Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian and Napoli Forward, secured the 8th position globally at the 2023 Ballon d’Or in Paris, France, officially making him the best African player.
Alongside Asisat Oshoala, he was announced as a nominee for the 2023 Ballon d’Or awards in Septemberp.
Osimhen’s outstanding performance with Napoli played a crucial role in his nomination and subsequent top-ten rankings, making him one of the select Nigerians to receive this honour.
Notably, his instrumental role in Napoli’s Serie A victory after 33 years highlighted his exceptional skills, further emphasized by his achievement of the Pichichi award as the leading goal scorer in the league last season.
