The United States of America, says it stands with Nigeria as they call for a peaceful election, stating that the forthcoming Nigerian elections does not matter to Nigeria alone, but to the world at large.

This is contained in a Tweet on Wednesday, 22nd February, 2023, by the U.S. Mission Nigeria; Antony Blinken, United States Secretary of States; Samantha Power, USAID Administrator and Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Ambassador to the UN, as they continue to pledge their support for Nigeria’s democracy.

Part of the message reads;

“…And during this election, you, the people of Nigeria have a chance to make your voices heard, to choose your future, your vote matters, this election matters, not only to Nigerians but the rest of the world”.

While reiterating  that the U.S. does not support any candidate for office, they supports a peaceful election that reflects the will of the people, adding that free and fair elections in Nigeria, help create a freer and fairer world for everyone.

They encouraged Nigerians’ to go out and vote for their preferred candidates come February 25th and March 11th, 2023, assuring Nigerians of having a friend and partner in the United States of America.
