American actor, Kevin Costner’s wife, Christine Baumgartner, a designer, has filed for a divorce from her 18-year marriage to the actor, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.
According to reports, while filing for the divorce, Baumgartner asked for joint custody of their three kids, Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12.
She, however, did not ask for spousal support as speculated that there is a prenup in place.
Costner on his part, responded to his estranged wife’s petition on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2023, by also asking for joint custody of their children.
Baumgartner and Costner began dating in 1999, shortly after Costner split from ex-wife, Bridget Rooney, with whom he shares a son Liam, 27.
Costner and Baumgartner had a brief breakup in 2003, and reunited the following year and tied the knot in Aspen, Colo.
They welcomed their oldest son, Cayden, in May 2007 and their second son, Hayes, in February 2009. In 2010, the pair welcomed their daughter Grace.
According to a statement released by the representative of the actor, he appealed for their privacy to be respected as they go through this process.
