Nigeria’s top selling female artist, Tiwa Savage, has bagged an honorary doctorate degree from her Alma Mater, University of kent.
The ceremony, which took place at the Canterbury Cathedral on Friday, 15th July 2022, was announced via the school’s official Twitter handle @UniKent;
The tweet featured a photo of Ms. Savage on stage in a resplendent red robe over a white dress, in a handshake as she received the honorary degree.
The tweet also mentioned that the singer studied Business at Kent before going on to have a career in Music, where she has obviously thrived.
In a congratulatory message to other recipients, Savage applauded her colleagues for their achievements.
“Yo! what up, Class 2022. This is Dr. Tiwa Savage and I just want to say a huge, huge congratulations to all of you. Well done. I’m super proud. And I want you to go out there, have fun, and kill it! Be the best you can be because you truly deserve it. Well done.”, she said.
Tiwa Savage – nicknamed ’Queen of Afrobeat’ – currently has 5 albums under her belt, with her most recent single ‘Somebody’s Son’ (which features American legend, Brandy) still a viral hit. It received nominations including an NAACP in the Outstanding International Song category.
Her discography includes other hits like, ’Lova Lova’, ’Kele Kele Love’ and ’Ma Lo’ with Wizkid
