This comes as he stated that the government is open to comparing teachers’ salaries in Nigeria to those available elsewhere and, if necessary, providing compensatory increases.

After informing President Muhammadu Buhari on the state of FG’s present engagement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities on the ongoing one-month warning strike, Ngige spoke to State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

After consulting with some stakeholders, including the National Inter-Religious Council, the President urged him and the ministers of education, communication, and the digital economy to end the strike as soon as possible, according to the Minister.
