Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has been sentenced to 16 years imprisonment.
The sentencing came today, 14th July, 2022 by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court.

Baba Ijesha faced six counts of child defilement that include indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration.
He pleaded “not guilty” to all the counts. However, a Closed-Circuit Television video recording detailing his relationship with the victim, a minor, was played in court as evidence against the actor’s plea.

Delivering the judgement, Justice Taiwo said the defendant was found guilty of two of the six counts against him.
Ijesha was arraigned on June 24, 2021. During the trial, six prosecution witnesses testified against him.
They include Nigerian actress and comedienne, Princess, the 14-year-old victim, a child expert, Mrs Olabisi Ajayi-Kayode, medical doctor, Dr Aniekan Makanjuola, as well as the Investigating Police Officer, ASP Wahab Kareem, and a policewoman, Inspector Abigail Omane.
