Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the Bank of England has unveiled its first pound notes with the face of King Charles III on Tuesday, 20th December, 2022.

The notes will gradually replace that of his mother the Queen whose face started appearing on paper money in 1960 and will be in circulation from mid-2024.
the Royal Mint, with the mandate to produce the UK’s coins, has already revealed its currency with the King’s likeness as created by Martin Jennings the sculptor .

Though the new King Charles 50p coins is already in circulation there are currently 27 billion coins in circulation carrying the Queen’s face, which will be replaced over time as they become worn out.

King Charles III will become the second monarch in British history to feature on a bank note with its appearance on £5, £10, £20 and £50 as well as the coin.
