Former “Big Brother Naija” reality TV show housemate, Kafilat Kareem, popularly known as ‘Khafi’ has been charged with a misconduct probe by the UK’s Metropolitan Police over her appearance on the show.

The hearing held at the Empress Building in west London on Monday, 25th April, 2022.

According to a report on BBC, Kareem, a police constable at the Metropolitan Police, faced a panel on Monday, 25th April, 2022, where she revealed that she took and surrendered her laptop to organisers of the reality TV show.

It was also revealed that the 29-year-old Ekiti State indigene, Kareem, who joined the UK Police as a Constable in 2015 had gone into the Big Brother Naija show, in 2019 “without authority”.

The Met police officer had told her superiors she wanted to appear on Big Brother Naija to “promote the Met Police” globally.

“The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed and will be carrying out an investigation into the circumstances.

“The Met does not support the officer’s appearance nor does she represent the Met whilst appearing on the show.

“All officers have a duty to behave with professionalism and in a manner that does not bring the Met into disrepute whether on or off duty. “Those who do not behave professionally risk breaching police standards of professional behaviour, and may be dealt with by way of misconduct proceedings”, the Met spokesperson said.

It was reported that during the hearing, Khafi denied allegations of breaching standards in respect of “orders and instructions” and “discreditable conduct” and failing to declare a business interest in relation to publicity and promotion of the show.

Before her eviction, she spent 77 days in the Big Brother Naija house.
