Nigerian music star, Burna Boy, has emerged “Best African Act” at the MTV EMAs 2022, beating other nominees like Ayra Starr, Black Sherif, Musa Keys and Zuchu to clinch the award at the event that held at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany on 13th November, 2022.

The recognition followed a widely successful year for Burna Boy, as he released his sixth studio album, Love, Damini in July, which became the highest debut of an African album on Billboard, Netherlands, the United Kingdom and France.

Burna Boy’s hit single ‘Last Last, from the ‘Damini‘ album, surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.

This is the second time Burna Boy is grabbing the same award, winning it in 2019 at the event that held at the FIBES Conference and Event Centre, Seville, Spain on 3rd November 2019.

This year’s award show was hosted by Rita Ora and Taika Waititi, the live global music celebration featured electrifying performances from chart-topping artists and honoured fan favorites across 20 categories.
