President Mohammad Buhari has described the claim that he had ‘died’ and replaced, by Jubril from Sudan, as a joke that was not funny.
The president gave this reaction in a documentary show at a dinner organized by his family and closed associates to mark his 80th birthday. tagged “Celebrating a Patriot, Leader, an Elder Statesman” at the State House Banquet Hall, presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday 23rd of December 2022.
According to the presented, some Nigerians have a way of creating satire to feast on something they do not understand, saying the development was the handiwork of dark rumors and some mischief makers to demonstrate their cheekiness.
In the documentary interview, the interviewer asked if he heard about the crazy rumor that he was not Buhari, he responded to the question about the rumor by saying, “Yes! People said I am somebody from Sudan. I didn’t bother with the name. Nigerians have mischievous ways of explaining themselves”.
Asked how he finds such jokes passed around, the President said;
“Is not funny because those who made those statements, just want to be cheeky. They want to distract attention from the main issues“.
Few years ago, there were claims by some Nigerians that presumed President Buhari to be long dead and replaced by a body double named ‘Jibril of Sudan’ after his return from overseas for medicals.
