The New Director General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr. Muhammed Bulama, assumed duty of office, on Thursday, 2nd November, 2023 and was received by top FRCN Management, members of staff, friends and well-wishers.
Dr. Bulama, was specially received by the outgoing DG Dr. Mansur Liman, and performed a formal handing over ceremony Eddiro conference hall where he addressed the management team.
Dr Mansur Liman having headed the organization for over 7years, urged the new DG to take ‘New Media Department’ seriously because it is the future of broadcasting and encouraged him to incorporate more staff into the new media arms and units of the organisation.
In his acceptance speech, the new Director General, Dr. Mohammed Bulama announced that he comes in peace. He expressed gratitude to God for the new opportunity and privilege given by the Government of President Bola Tinubu, to serve. He said that with the support of everyone, he promises to deliver on the job. He emphasized on working as a team and needed the full support of the outgoing DG. Dr. Liman.
He emphasized that he is here with the intention of building on what has been done by his predecessor as public broadcast is vital for the development of the nation.
He also pledged to introduce innovation and changes to take FRCN to the next level in digital broadcasting.
In doing so, he outlined a number of objectives and priorities which include; keeping at the pace with changes coming into the media, procuring world class equipment, and the deployment of technology. He pledged to strengthen the new media dept, improve on content, not just diseminating news, FRCN will operate beyond the norms of radio broadcasting.
He also said there are going to be goinseveralining and re-training Staff and not only restricting them to the FRCN training school.
Having served as Commissioner for Information in Borno State, he is not oblivious of challenges faced in the broadcast sector as such, he will look into power supply, and improve Staff Welfare, amongst other priorities which will be known as time goes on.
He urged everyone to work as “team leaders” for the betterment of the Organization and looks forward to leaving his tenure with his head up high.
On a final note, Dr. Bulama said he has zero tolerance for gossip and small talk, expressed his delight at the level of gender sensitivity in the management team with women ably represented.
Director Engineering, Sanda Askira thanked the outgoing DG, wishing him the best for having attained this height with FRCN while he welcomed the new DG and urged staff to give him all the support needed to serve the corporation better.
