Award-winning Canadian rapper, Drake, has won $2.7 million, after placing a huge bet on Israel Adesanya‘s fight, which saw Israel knocked out Alex Pereira at the UFC 287 to reclaim the Middleweight title on Saturday, 8th April, 2023.
Drake who had placed a bet, predicted that Adesanya would knock out Pereira at UFC 287 to reclaim the middleweight title and his prediction came to pass.
The fight which held at the FTX Arena, Miami in the United States, was the fourth fight between the pair and saw Adesanya freezing Pereira with a ring hook in round 2 before dropping him and finishing him with a hammer hook.
Adesanya’s win is coming barely five months after he was defeated twice by his rival, Pereira in kickboxing.
The rapper had previously lost up to $ 1.6 million after backing Adesanya to win in that fight but this time around, Adesanya made amends for the rapper in his rematch with Pereira by winning his fight.
The 36-year-old rapper placed a $500,000 bet on Adesanya to win which returned at $885,000 and $400,000 bet for him to win by knockout, which returned a massive $1.8million.
The win over Pereira is Adesanya’s 24th in his career in mixed martial arts and had suffered just two losses.
