The Federal Government, FG, has advised people in some specific areas near the river Benue and Niger to migrate due to the possibility of flooding.

In a statement released on Wednesday, 30th August 2023, by the National Orientation Agency, NOA on there Twitter page, the FG stated that flooding is anticipated in such areas as a result of Cameroon’s announcement that the Lagodo dam will be opened.

“Flood alert! Federal Government of Nigeria warns of possible flooding along River Benue & Niger due to Cameroon opening dam. Take precautions,” NOA wrote.

It also advised people in the affected areas to take some preventive measures before the flooding starts.

“People in the affected areas must move to higher grounds and they should be vigilant at all times.”

The NOA urged residents close to the rivers Benue and Niger to take precautions and warn others about the potential for floods.
