The Federal Government is summoning the management of Lead British International School, Abuja, in response to reports of a student being bullied, as depicted in a viral video circulating online.

Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, disclosed this during on Tuesday 23rd April 2024 in a strategic planning meeting on the nationwide Safe Schools Programme in Abuja.Sununu emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure students’ safety not only from external threats but also within school premises.

He highlighted the seriousness of the situation, stating that the ministry has already initiated an emergency meeting with the Federal Capital Territory authorities and the school’s authorities.

The Minister stressed the importance of unity in addressing such issues, stating that an attack on one is an attack on all.

Additionally, the Ministry of Women Affairs, represented by Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye, visited the school.

The incident came to light after footage of students bullying their peers circulated on social media, prompting widespread outrage.

The school subsequently announced a three-day closure in response to the incident.
