The Federal Government, FG, on Thursday, 19th October, 2023, announced the closure of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State, starting from midnight of Saturday, October 21 to midnight of Sunday October 22, 2023, to carry out repairs.

Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, stated that the government is prepared to initiate extensive rehabilitation efforts on the bridge, starting with critical repairs.
Kesha also informed the public that comprehensive repairs for the Third Mainland Bridge are in the planning stages.

According to her, To mitigate current issues on the bridge, the Ministry will conduct interim repairs on the most severely affected sections along the Adeniji-bound carriageway on Sunday, October 22, as a precursor to the comprehensive repair project.
However, in order to alleviate the pains currently being experienced on the bridge, the Ministry would be carrying out palliative works on the most critically failed sections along the Adeniji bound carriageway on Sunday, Oct. 22 preparatory to the comprehensive repair works.

She also urged Motorists to urged to cooperate with traffic management authorities by following detours and diversions for smooth traffic flow.
During the palliative repair period, from Saturday, October 21 to Sunday, October 22, 2023, the Adeniji-bound portion of the bridge will be closed to traffic, and drivers are advised to consider alternative routes where possible.
