Former President of Nigeria and global Peace Ambassador, Goodluck Jonathan, has rejected the presidential form of the All Progressives Congress, APC, purchased for him on Monday, 9th May, 2022, by the Nomadic pastoralists and the Almajiri groups from various parts of the country.

The spokesman for the group, Mallam Ibrahim Abdullahi, had purchased the APC form to allow Jonathan come back as president, as he recalled the inclusion of the almajiris in the mainstream education system and giving the less privileged a sense of belonging as well as his uncommon display of Democratic values deserving of a return.

However in a statement by Jonathan’s Media Aide, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, he described the purported purchase of the Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms of the All Progressives Congress APC, in the name of former President as an insult to his person.

Eze said Jonathan was not aware of the bid and did not authorize it, stressing that if the former President wanted to contest the election, he would make his intentions clear to the public and will not enter through the back door.

We wish to categorically state that Dr Jonathan was not aware of this bid and did not authorise it.

While we appreciate the overwhelming request by a cross-section of Nigerians, for Dr. Jonathan to make himself available for the 2023 Presidential election, he maintained that Dr. Jonathan had not in anyway, committed himself to the request”, the statement partly reads.
