Reactions have trailed the nomination of Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele as running mate for the Lagos State Governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Olajide Adediran, popularly called Jandor.
Akindele made a video post on her Instagram handle where she made her intentions known.
On his part, the PDP governorship candidate, Adediran, officially unveiled Akindele as running mate for the coming 2023 election today, Tuesday 12th July 2022. He made a post to this effect on his instagram handle and captioned it: ”LAGOS for LAGOS! JandorFunke… a breath of fresh air.”
The announcement of the actress’s nomination has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some friends and fans expressing excitement about the nomination in congratulatory messages, while others have expressed other emotions and points of view.
While many believed Akindele wanted to be used to gather votes, some other Nigerians have challenged her capacity, her behaviour and political antecedents.
A Twitter user, @sheguntweets wrote: ”goan fix your home before trying to fix a state”.
Akindele, who is from Ikorodu division had earlier been reported to be on top of the list which comprises other four names as potential running mate of the party’s governorship candidate, Jandor. The actress is from Ikorodu, Lagos state.
