Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has made history as the highest recipient of Awards in the history of the Headies Awards, winning 5 Awards in the 15th Headies Award held on Sunday, 4th September 2022, at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, United State.


The singer also led the nominations list with 10 nominations cutting across various categories, while winning 5 out of all 10 nominations.

Wizkid won the song of the year for (Essence) ft Tems, best collaboration (Essence) ft Tems,  best R&B single (Essence) ft Tems, best Afrobeats album (Made in Lagos ) and Album of the year (Made in Lagos deluxe edition).

Wizkid won 5 Awards at the 2022 Headies Awards.

The show, which was hosted by Emmy nominated actor, Anthony Anderson, and award-winning Nigerian actress, Osas Ighodoro, rolled out some of the awards during the live show with Wizkid leading with 5 wins. 

Other winners includes BNXN, who won the Next Rated Award, and Ayra Starr who won the Viewers Choice Award.

Wizkid who started winning the Headies Award in 2011 with ‘Holla at your Boy’ in the Next Rated Category now has a total of 20 awards from the Headies.
