Mavin Records Singer, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr has criticised the organisers of the Headies awards on the microblogging site, ‘X’, for not presenting the best female category award on stage.

The Marvin singer took to her official X handle on Monday, 4th September 2023, to express her displeasure over what she termed ‘their nonchalant’ towards Nigerian female musicians despite the work they put into their craft.

The 2023 Headies Awards, which held on Sunday, 2nd Septemper, 2023, at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, witnessed the gathering of industry stakeholders who came together to honor the achievements of Nigerian musicians.

Ayra Starr emerged as the winner of Best Female Artist category at the Headies awards held in the United States, on Sunday, 2nd September, 2023, ahead of other contenders such as Tems, Tiwa Savage, and Simi.

However, the organizers of show ended the awards ceremony without announcing 13 categories including Best Female Artist.

They later announced the winners of those categories via their social media pages, but that did not go down well with Ayra who rejected the award.

Some of her fans joined the singer in calling out the Headies and recalled that Tiwa Savage once complained about the treatment of women by the awards.
