Troost-Ekong found the net putting Nigeria ahead 38 minutes into the game with a powerful header from Ademola Lookman’s corner kick.

The host team leveled the score in the 62nd minute when former Barcelona midfielder Kessie headed in a corner from Simon Adingra.

Adingra provided the crucial assist for the winning goal 19 minutes later, as his precise cross from the left was deftly touched into the net by Haller’s outstretched right boot.

Ivory Coast’s triumph over Nigeria came just 18 days after the dismissal of their manager, Jean-Louis Gasset, by the Ivory Coast Football Federation, FIF, on January 24 2024, following their defeat in two out of three group stage matches.
