Nigerian singer, Kizz Daniel, has been arrested by Tanzanian police officers after he didn’t show up to perform at his concert. Fans were said to have paid as much as 5,000 – 2 million shillings for tickets and tables, but the headliner didn’t show up.
The social media sensation, made popular for his single ‘Buga’ and the accompanying dance movement, was scheduled to perform at the Summer Amplified concert on 7th August, 2022, but reportedly declined on account of his clothes not being available.
The concert organizer, Str8tUp Vibes, took to Instagram to apologise for the disappointment fans and stakeholders experienced. In the statement, released on Monday morning, they promised to protect the concert goers.
“We are taking proper action in resolving this situation with rigor, and reassure the public as well as the fans who paid and attended, that we are doing everything we can to make sure that they are not affected by this.”
Daniel’s arrival at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) was announced by the event coordinators ‘Str&up Vibes’ on their Instagram page a few hours before the event even kicked off.
Disgruntled fans, after waiting from dusk till dawn, began hurling items like empty bottles at the stage in protest.
Similarly, while on tour in the US, Daniel was 4 hours late for his concert and the fans also reacted. In a video that trended after the concert, Kiss was seen booed off the stage by angry fans who had to wait for him to perform. According to a concert goer, there was no tangible reason given.
