Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire, has been stripped of his captaincy, after a discussion with club manager, Ten Hag.

The England defender made this known in his twitter on Sunday, 16th July, 2023.
According to Maguire, though Hag had outlined his reasons for the action, but he still feels unpleasant. Nevertheless, he promised to give his best whenever he put on the Jersey.
After discussions with the manager today, he has informed me he is changing captain. He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt.

The defender expressed his gratitude to the former manager of the club for the privilege given to him to serve as a captain.
He further wished success to whoever succeeds him and promised to give his maximum support.
Maguire joined United for £80 million in 2019 and was made captain by former manager, Ole Solskjaer in January 2020 when player, Ashley Young, left to join Inter Milan.
He lifted Carabao Cup as his first trophy earlier this year. But, under Hag, Maguire has fallen below other defenders, like, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw.
Maguire’s future at Manchester United remains unclear.
