Manchester United, popularly called Man U has signed Mason Mount, a former Chelsea midfielder in a deal worth £60 million on Wednesday, 5th July 2023, making him United’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

According to the United Football Director, John Murtough, Mount has signed a contract with Man U until the end of the 2027-28 season, with the choice of an additional year. The footballer who is 24 years has a year remaining on his Chelsea contract.
Mount has been playing for Chelsea for 18 years after joining the West London club’s youth team at age 6. He won the Champions League in 2021, won the UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA World Cup. In his 195 appearances for Chelsea, he scored 33 goals and made 37 assists.
Mount issued a farewell message to Chelsea fans on Tuesday that, it has never been easy for him to leave the club where he grew up with, but to him, Manchester United will provide him an exciting new challenge for the new phase of his career.
The United football director described Mason as an extremely intelligent footballer who has fantastical technical qualities that will significantly add to the team. According to him, that is why they admired and signed him.
