The National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC has banned the importation of lndomie noodles. The move came following a report by the Malaysian and Taiwan authorities on the discovery of ethylene oxide, a cancer-causing chemical compound in lndomie noodles.

The Director- General of NAFDAC, Mrs Mojisola Adeyeye said from Tuesday, 2nd May, 2023, the Food safety and applied nutrition directorate will commence a random testing of imported noodle brands including lndomie from the production facilities to the markets. The test would not only be carried out on the noodles but also on the seasoning.
The adulterated product was manufactured be lndofood and not registered by NAFDAC. She also stated that investigation is ongoing to ensure that the product was not smuggled into the country.
