The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC has urged prepaid meter users within the country, to update their meters before November 2024, as revealed via its official X handle.
The Commission’s public announcement was made available on Tuesday, 22nd August, 2023.
According to NERC, all prepaid meter users should meet their various distribution companies, DisCos, on the upgrade procedure.
NERC further assured customers that the update method is simple and is without charge.
However, updating is easy and free. DisCos shall commence issuance of 2 free Key Change Tokens (KCTs) which will update your meter.

The Commission said that the update has no negative effect on the meter.
The update will not affect the units in your meter nor make it run faster than usual. Contact your DisCo for more information.
