American rapper Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, has been sentenced to three years’ probation and a year in-home detention after failing to register as a sex offender in Los Angeles.

According to reports, Petty was arrested in 2020 for the offence and was sentenced on Wednesday, 6th July 2022, after pleading guilty in 2021 and also ordered to pay a $55,000 fine.

In Sept 2021, Petty pleaded guilty during a virtual court hearing to a charge of failure to register as a sex offender in California and he could face a ten-year jail sentence

He was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender in the city. Petty moved to California from New York in July 2019, but according to law enforcement he got pulled over in Beverly Hills in November 2019 and that’s when his legal troubles started.

He was later released on a $20,000 bond after being charged.

Petty crimes took place in New York back in 1995 when he was arrested and jailed for first-degree attempted rape.

Petty is a registered Level 2 sex offender on New York States sex offender Registry. According to New York sex Offender Registry, in April 1995, he was convicted of attempted first- degree rape in connection with a 1994 assault that occurred when both he and the victim were 16.

He was sentenced to between 18 and 54 months in state prison. According to New York state Department of Corrections records, he served just under four years and was released in January 1999.

He went back to prison in 2006 after a first- degree manslaughter conviction and served nearly seven years before being released on parole in May 2013.

He served almost 4 years in NY state prison for the crime and was required to register as a sex offender.
