British Prime Minister, Liz Truss, has appointed, Kemi Badenoch, as a member of her cabinet. Kemi Badenoch was appointed as the Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade on Tuesday, 6th September 2022. Her appointment came in the recent cabinet reshuffle when the immediate past British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, resigned in July, 2022, and Liz Truss came in to replace him as the present British Prime Minister.

In a post on the verified Twitter handle of the UK Prime Minister, @10DowningStreet, it stated that Badenoch was appointed as the Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade:

The post read, “Kemi Badenoch MP @KemiBadenoch has been appointed Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade @TradeGovUK #reshuffle”.

Also, in a tweet, Kemi has shared her excitement, stating she’s enjoying her first day at work.

Before her appointment, Badenoch entered the House of Commons as a Member of Parliament, for Saffron Walden in 2017 and also made it to the top 5 in July 2022, when she vied for the office of the British PM as a member of the Conservative Party.

Prime Minister, Liz Truss, has made history with her appointments, as all four “great offices of state” are occupied by people of colour.
