Popular Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold has shared his lifelong battle with sickle cell disease during a recent stage performance.

The singer revealed that he’s had the condition since birth but is grateful for his ability to manage it, allowing him to pursue his music career and perform globally without being hindered by its effects.

I want to say you can do it. If I can do it, you can do it too. I grew up with sickle cell. I was born with sickle cell. All my life, I fought with it. But I am thankful I was able to manage it. I’m everywhere, doing shows, I don’t fall sick. I am thankful. So this is reaching out to everybody going through, having to deal with the crisis, you can do it. It should never stop you. Look at me, I am a superstar right now.

 In a trending video online, he expressed thanks to God for his successful career and encouraged others facing similar health challenges to stay strong in pursuing their dreams.

He also dedicated his song “5 Star” to fellow sickle cell survivors as a tribute during his performance.
