Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has on Tuesday, 6th February, 2024 been declared fit to play in Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON semi-final against South Africa after recovering from abdominal discomfort.

This announcement was made known via the official Super Eagles X handle.

Despite initially being a doubt for the match, the 25-year-old Napoli striker joined the squad in Bouake and trained ahead of the fixture.

While the Nigeria squad flew to Bouake on Monday for the semi-final, Osimhen remained in Abidjan with members of the medical team for evaluation.

Osimhen has been in the starting lineup for all five of Nigeria’s games at the AFCON, where they’ve progressed to the semi-finals.

He scored one goal, equalizing in the group stage match against Equatorial Guinea.

The winner of Wednesday’s semi-final clash between Nigeria and South Africa will advance to play either Ivory Coast or DR Congo in the final.

Nigeria aims to clinch their fourth AFCON title, having previously won in 1980, 1994, and 2013.
