Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, captured Ibrahim Momoh, famously known as Ibrahim Bendel, in a raid at his hideout in Filin Dabo, Dei-Dei area of Abuja, seven years after he had escaped from prison custody following a drug dealing conviction.

Femi Babafemi, the spokesperson for NDLEA, revealed this arrest in a statement on Sunday, 18th November 2023.

Babafemi disclosed that Momoh was Initially apprehended on November 27, 2014, with 385.1kgs of cannabis sativa.

Consequently, he was prosecuted and sentenced to seven and a half years in prison on July 22, 2015.

However, he managed to escape from Kuje prison on May 16, 2016, during his incarceration.

According to Babafemi, acting on credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives raided Momoh’s warehouse on November 20, 2022, seizing 1,278kgs of cannabis stored within his poultry farm in the Dei-Dei area.

Although Momoh wasn’t present, his warehouse manager, Richard Forson Gordon, a 55-year-old Ghanaian, was apprehended, tried, and sentenced to two years in jail.

Subsequently, the NDLEA declared Momoh wanted, commencing a manhunt that culminated in his arrest on November 5, 2023.

The raid at his Filin Dabo hideout resulted in the seizure of 56.9kgs of cannabis sativa and 42.7 grams of Diazepam.
