Singer, Seun Kuti, son to late Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, reported to Lagos State Police command Headquarters, Ikeja, on Monday, 15th May, 2023, but handcuffed and detained.
This was made known through Lagos State Public Relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin on his twitter. Following a video of his assault on police officer, which went viral online on Saturday,13th May, 2023.
The Afrobeat singer, claimed that his action was as a result of the officer attempting to kill him and members of his family.
He also said the officer apologised and ” I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job”.
His action, according to police spokesman, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, made the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman ordered for his immediate arrest.
Swiftly reacting to the order of arrest via his Twitter handle, he said;
But following his detention and investigation, the musician has apologized for assaulting the policeman and willing to pay for the repairs of the damaged vehicle.
