As indigenes of Osun State prepare to head to the polls for the State’s gubernatorial elections come 16th July, 2022, the campaigns have been fierce with parties employing external help in the form of pop icons.
The PDP gubernatorial candidate, Ademola Adeleke, had afrobeat star Davido, his nephew, in his corner, while the opposing APC employed the services of singer and Za Zoo Zeh champion, Portable. This choice by the APC elicited very divergent views on social media.
Opinions have trailed Portable’s involvement in election campaigns in Osun state.
In a photo showing Portable dancing by the statue of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo with nothing covering his top half and his pants down, twitter user David Anyebe tweeted;
Some twitter users saw the choice of Portable as a very good and strategic move, seeing as he pulls crowds wherever he goes.
@blackbeaut119 also tweeted:
Portable also took to social media, following the opinions on his alignment with the APC candidate and incumbent in the Osun Guber race, Gboyega Oyetola, to defend his choice.
In the Instagram video, Portable said he supports those who support him and defended his actions saying he’s not the son of a wealthy man, unlike Davido. Also stating that the ‘Fall’ singer unfollowed him on Instagram.
