US President Joe Biden, has appointed two Nigerian proffesionals, as his Special Advisers.

Prof. Osagie Imasogie and Chineye Ogwumike are among the 12 individuals chosen to join the President’s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States.

The appointment, according to a statement issued by the State House on Wednesday, 27th September 2023, was to improve communication between American Government representatives and members of the African Diaspora.

Prof. Osagie Imasogie is the current Chairman of Quoin Capital and Quoin Advisors, an investment bank and SEC/FINRA-registered broker-dealer. He holds LLMs from the London School of Economics and the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and is a member of the New York State Bar.

While Chinenye Ogwumike, a two-time WNBA All-Star for the Los Angeles Sparks, is also a full-time, multi-platform ESPN host and NBA commentator. She made history by being the first Black woman to anchor a daily, national sports talk radio programme in the United States, and one of the youngest national sports studio commentators.

The members of the council will serve from 2023 – 2025.
