On Thursday, April 18, 2024, Onakoya, the chess master, surpassed the 20-hour mark and expressed his excitement at achieving this milestone.

The marathon, aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon, commenced in New York City’s Times Square at 10 a.m. on April 17, 2024, and is scheduled to conclude at 8 p.m. on April 19, 2024. Onakoya’s ambitious goal is to play non-stop for 58 hours without losing.
