Nigerian Singer, Burna Boy, stirred controversy on Monday, 12th February 2024, by throwing shade at his colleague, Davido while engaging with a user who had Davido’s photo as his display picture on the X app formerly known as Twitter.
Amid discussions about Nigeria’s loss at the AFCON finals, Burna Boy responded to a video shared by a user with a laughing emoji.
Another user, whose display picture was of Davido, then taunted Burna Boy, referencing his Grammy loss by calling him a fool in Yoruba and stating, “Ode, bottled 4 Grammys.”
Burna Boy retaliated by pointing out the irony of the user’s display picture, sparking outrage among fans with his remark, “The actual Joke is in your Display picture.”
Although Burna Boy’s initial response was deleted, it prompted swift backlash on social media, with fans expressing disappointment and criticism.
Anticipating potential retaliation from Davido, some users deemed Burna Boy’s actions childish.
Burna Boy later disclosed that his management had taken control of his phone, signaling an end to further engagement on the matter.
