South African rapper, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, also known as AKA, has been shot dead at close range by a gun man wearing a white jumper and a hat, according to a CCTV recording making rounds, while standing on a pavement of Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban, on Friday night, 10th February, 2023.
Forbes was killed along side his close friend and former manager Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, while his bodyguard sustained injuries.
The award winning rapper, gained prominence with the release of his single “Victory Lap,” in 2010, which was featured on his debut album ‘Altar Ego’.
He continued to be widely known having released studio albums which include ‘Levels’, ‘Touch My Blood’, ‘Bhovamania’, the collaborative album with Anatii, titled, “Be Careful What You Wish For” and gained recognition in Nigeria as well, with his hit single “Fela in Versace”.
Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, who has won several South African hip hop awards, was planning to perform and celebrate his 35th birthday at the YUGO nightclub in Stamford Hill that evening.
