The State of Minnesota USA on Thursday, 6th October, 2022, celebrated the annual ‘Wizkid Day’, four (4) years after Governor Mark Dayton declared October 6 as the State’s annual Wizkid Day.
The celebration started in 2019 when the Governor declared in a sealed and stamped document that the 6th of October every year will be the City’s Wizkid Day, in recognition of Wizkid’s achievements in music and his role as a cultural influencer.
The honor came after Wizkid became the first African artist to sell out the Skyway Theatre Minneapolis in 2019.
Wizkid has continued to record several feats including reaching the summit of the Billboard Hot 100, selling out the 02 Arena on three consecutive nights, winning a Grammy, and receiving an RIAA platinum plaque.
Fans of the star stormed the social media to congratulate him and show him support over the addition to his achievements and to praise him for making them proud.
The state of Minnesota is an upper midwestern region of the United States. It is the said to be the 12th largest state in the U.S.
