COMMON MISTAKES YOU MAKE IN CHARGING YOUR PHONES

Some common mistakes you’re making with your smartphone now could damage its battery and reduce its lifespan. Sometimes we take our phones for granted. They’re powerful, incredible devices that we tend to misuse without meaning to.
Here is how to properly take care of your smartphone to avoid these common mistakes.
Number 1. When you have the habit of charging your battery to 100%. The rule, according to experts, says that you should aim to keep your smartphone battery between 40% and 80%. Keeping your phone constantly charged to 100% is actually a bad habit. By pushing your phone to extremes, you are causing wear and tear on the battery which only has a limited number of charge cycles.
Number 2 bad habit is when you leave your phone plugged in all night long. Leaving it plugged overnight speeds up its degradation. Once your smartphone has reached 100% charge, it gets ‘trickle charges to keep it at 100% while plugged in. This keeps the battery in a high-stress, high-tension state, which wears down the chemistry within. Moderation is the key to making your smartphone battery last longer. The best thing is to charge your phone in short intervals throughout the day.
The third mistake you are making is when you use a fast charger often. Always using a fast charger might not be the best thing for your battery’s health. This causes a rapid rise in temperature. Endeavour to use an approved matching regular charger, like Nigerians commonly call it, ‘follow come’ charger.
Number 4 habit you need to get rid of is allowing your battery power to drain before charging it again. It’s not a good habit to wait until your phone battery is completely drained and then charge it. So when your smartphone battery is around 25%, charge it.
Number 5, when you never turn off your phone. While they might be machines like humans, smartphones too need to take a break. Apple experts recommend turning your phone off at least once a week in order to preserve battery life.
Number 6, using fake chargers. If the charger does not provide sufficient voltage for every charging session, it could shorten the battery life. Apart from that, fake chargers are less expensive due to the lack of safety mechanisms in the internal circuitry. While it might save you some money now, it will eventually cost you in the long run.
Finally, at number 7, when you charge your phone with the case on. Having a protective casing can be good for your phone but not when it is being charged. It’s natural for the battery to become warm, but the case may act as a barrier and slow down heat dissipation. If possible, flip the phone over and place it on a soft cloth to protect the display.
