The Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting renowned actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, amidst recent concerns over his health.

The guild’s Director Of Communications, Kate Henshaw, conveyed this message in a video posted on its official Instagram account, on Friday, 20th October, 2023.

Kate Henshaw emphasized that the guild has consistently provided crucial support to Mr. Ibu, even prior to the public disclosure of his health status.

She stated that the Actors Guild of Nigeria has a long-standing tradition of assisting its members during times of need, especially when it comes to health-related matters.

In part, the statement read;

We are compelled to make this public statement in reaction to the vituperation of some netizens over the health of one of our respected and esteemed members, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu. We are not here to join issues with anybody, but we want to set the records straight over the public outcry (that) the guild and his colleagues have abandoned him at his point of need. The guild has never abandoned any of its members in need, especially with health interventions. We have been in the forefront of providing necessary support to Mr. Ibu even before his health condition was ever made public.

The Guild however addressed any misconceptions and assured the public that the Actors Guild of Nigeria remains committed to supporting its members, including Mr. Ibu, during challenging times, including health-related concerns.

Henshaw added that the Guild have over 600 Health Insurance Scheme Centres across the country and appeals to members to take advantage of it.
