WhatsApp periodically updates its list of compatible devices. In December 2022, it stopped supporting certain smartphones. Now, with an upcoming change in October, there’s a new development: a group of Android phones won’t work with the popular messaging app owned by Meta.

WhatsApp has announced that starting from 24th October 2023, it won’t support smartphones running Android 4.1 or older versions. After this date, the app will only work on Android 5.1 and newer versions.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp will continue to support iPhones running iOS 12 and newer, as well as KaiOS 2.5.0 and later versions.

WhatsApp will notify you in advance about the upcoming end of support for your operating system, If your Android device is affected, they will also send reminders, urging you to upgrade your device.
