American actress and Show host, Jada Pinkett, wife of American actor and rapper, Will Smith, has opened up about the current situation of their marriage, said they have been living apart.
According to Jada in a recent interview with Hoda Kotb on NBC News, the couple has been separated since 2016.
Jada admitted that seven years ago, she and Will made the decision “to live completely separate lives” due to feeling exhausted from trying to make their relationship work.
Though it was not legally documented, she described it as a divorce and stated that they have been apart since then.
She explained that they were both stuck in the fantasy of themselves.
Why our relationship fractured, that is a lot of things, and by the time we got to 2016, we were too exhausted with trying. I think we were both still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.
The revelation from Jada Pinkett about their separation in 2016 adds new insight into the status of their marriage and invites speculation about the future of their relationship.
I made a commitment that there will never be a reason for us to seek a divorce. We vowed to work through any challenges, and I haven’t been able to let go of that promise. Currently, we are living separately.
In a separate interview with People, Jada mentioned that she and Will are still in the process of figuring out the status of their marriage.
Also, she revealed that they had been separated for six years leading up to the 2022 Oscars.
