The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy, on Tuesday, 7th November 2023, inaugurated a tricycle scheme aimed at empowering Nigerian women in Abuja.

Uju Kennedy posted a video of the event on her official X handle, where she test-drove one of the tricycles, popularly called Keke in Nigeria, and inspected sewing machines.

Minister Kennedy announced that the ministry had received the first batch of uniquely branded tricycles and industrial sewing machines.

She said the scheme was part of the Women Affairs Ministry’s resolute effort to combat unemployment and promote women’s empowerment.

She added that the initial phase of the scheme, with a focus on “Pink Riders,” will kick off in Abuja before expanding to other states.
