Nigerian Music icon, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burnaboy, has won the award for Best International Act at the 2023 edition of ‘Black Entertainment Awards’, BET.

The 23rd BET Awards took place on June 25th, 2023, held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.

The nominations were announced on June 8, 2023.

The ‘African Giant’ crooner beats the likes of Ayra Starr, Central Cee and Stormzy, among others to clinch the most coveted category of BET awards.

Although Burna Boy was not present at the show when announced as the winner, his mother, Bose Ogulu, received the award on his behalf.

Other nominees in the category included Aya Nakamura, Ayra Starr, Central Cee, Ella Mai, K.O, L7nnon, Stormzy, Tiakola and Uncle Waffles.

Bunaboy has had an amazing last couple of years. His 2022 album ‘Love, Damini’ was a worldwide success, he has already home a BET Award in the same category in 2019 and 2021.

BET Awards holds annually to celebrate achievements in entertainment and honors music, sports, television and movies.
