The Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, has emphasized his dedication to creating a favorable working atmosphere for engineers in the entire corporation, with the aim of improving service delivery, during the commencement of a three-day in-house training program arranged by the FRCN’s Directorate of Engineering Services on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, at Studio 5 annex, Radio House, Abuja.

The theme of the training, expected to run from May 8th to May 10th, 2024, is ‘Enhancing Productivity through Training and Retaining Engineering Personnel.’

During his address, the Director-General of FRCN emphasized the pivotal role of the engineering department in radio broadcasting and reassured that key issues such as staffing and outdated equipment are being tackled.

Dr. Buluma stressed the corporation’s dedication to staff development across all sectors and its cooperation with stakeholders.

He outlined his initiatives to enhance welfare benefits and equip employees throughout the organization.

Additionally, Dr. Buluma lauded the gender diversity within the engineering department, commending the integration of women and their collaboration with male counterparts.

He also praised the department’s resourcefulness in utilizing outdated tools and implementing improvised techniques.

Engineer Askira Sanda, the Director of Engineering at FRCN, conveyed appreciation during his welcome speech for the endorsement of the training by the Director-General of FRCN.

He underscored the significant challenges encountered by engineers on a daily basis, including outdated equipment, inadequate staffing, and the departure of skilled personnel due to refusals of promotion.

He emphasized the department’s responsibility in upholding efficiency in digital radio broadcasting and cautioned against unethical conduct.

One of the facilitators of the event, Engr. Jackson Omenka MENG, MINATE, MNSE, presented his training on ‘Digital Studio Equipment Installation and Operations,’ emphasizing the importance of studios in radio broadcasting.

The session concluded with an interactive session between the facilitators and participants.
