Hadi Sirika, the former Aviation Minister, has been granted bail after he entered a plea of not guilty to charges of alleged corrupt practices amounting to about ₦2.7 billion filed against him by the Federal Government on Thursday, May 8th, 2024.

Sirika, alongside his daughter Fatima, son-in-law Jalal Sule Hamma, and Al Buraq Global Investment Limited, appeared before Justice Sylvanus Oriji at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Both the daughter and son-in-law entered pleas of not guilty to the six-count charges brought against them.

Subsequently, their respective legal representatives applied for bail, which the judge granted. Justice Oriji admitted the three defendants to bail, each set at ₦100 million with two sureties.

The sureties are required to be responsible citizens with verifiable home addresses, with one possessing landed property certified by the FCT Minister.

Moreover, the defendants are prohibited from leaving the country without the court’s permission.

In the event of inability to fulfill bail conditions, Justice Oriji ordered their remand in prison custody until bail is perfected.
