According to Maman, the exemption grants the heads of these institutions the freedom to conduct recruitment without needing approval from the Head of Service of the Federation.

Maman said the directive includes removing Vice Chancellors from the platform that complicated recruitment processes.

He stated that President Tinubu and the council prioritized enhancing the efficiency of university management, focusing beyond concerns about platform integrity or preferences.

Maman highlighted the president’s bewilderment at Vice Chancellors leaving their posts to travel to Abuja for staff enlistment on IPPIS upon recruitment.

Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation

In addition, Minister of Information Muhammad Idris emphasized that this exemption marks a significant relief for universities and tertiary institutions.

He added that henceforth tertiary institutions would handle their personnel payments independently instead of relying on the IPPIS.
