The Federal Government, FG, has suspended the N-Power program indefinitely, due to irregularities in the scheme.

Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, announced the suspension during an interview on Saturday, 7th October, 2023.

According to Edu, the government has also launched an investigation into the usage of funds since the program’s inception.

We must go back to look into N-Power and understand what the problems are so we will basically suspend the programe for now until we are done with proper investigation into the utilization of fund into the N-Power program.

The minister mentioned that some beneficiaries are receiving monthly stipends despite not being present at their assigned locations.

She added some beneficiaries who were supposed to have exited the program in 2022 are still being paid.

The N-Power Program was launched in June, 2016, by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to address the issue of youth unemployment and help increase social development.
