The Federal Government has identified 32 routes used for smuggling food items out of Nigeria. This was disclosed by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, during a conference on Public Wealth Management in Abuja held on Tuesday, 20th February 2024.

He highlighted the recent interception of 45 trucks loaded with maize destined for neighboring countries, leading to a decrease in maize prices by N10,000.

Shettima also emphasized the need for unity, stating, that there are forces intent on undermining the nation, but urged the citizens to unite against them.

Despite acknowledging Nigeria’s current challenges, Shettima reassured the public that the difficulties will not last indefinitely.

He condemned those who exacerbate division and violence during these times, urging a focus on governance rather than politics.

The VP warned against those attempting to destabilize the country, emphasizing the need to uphold democratic processes and avoid descending into anarchy.
