Former Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN Bishop George Bako, conveys his confidence in the ability of the current DG, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, to revitalize the corporation into a premier broadcasting entity, crucial for sustaining the nation’s democracy and promoting the welfare of its citizens.

During a courtesy visit by Dr. Bulama and his team to Bishop Bako on Friday, 26th April 2024, at his residence in Ogudu GRA, Lagos, the iconic figure, having served as the last DG of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, NBC and the first DG of the FRCN since its establishment in 1978, shared his sentiments.

Bishop Bako’s contributions to Nigeria’s media landscape include pioneering the establishment of the nation’s first colored television in Jos, Plateau State, alongside his role as the inaugural Anglican Bishop of Lokoja.

The significance of Dr. Bulama’s visit lies in its historic nature, being the first by any DG since Bishop Bako’s tenure.

Expressing his appreciation, Bishop Bako commended Dr. Bulama and the FRCN family for their graciousness towards him, affirming his observation of the new DG’s efforts towards enhancing the corporation’s service delivery.

In his prayerful wish for Dr. Bulama’s success in reforming the FRCN, Bishop Bako emphasized the corporation’s pivotal role in realizing governmental objectives and fostering national unity, urging for strong governmental relations.

Bishop Bako elaborated on his vision for the FRCN, including insights into the design of the iconic Radio House in Abuja, underscoring its significance in broadcasting history.

Dr. Bulama reciprocated the sentiment, expressing his joy at meeting Bishop Bako and his wife in good health, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining a beneficial relationship to leverage the elder statesman’s wisdom for the FRCN’s advancement.

The visit culminated in a memorable photo session, with the FRCN team visiting directly from an official function in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
