Manchester United winger, Antony Santos, has gotten a leave of absence from his club, to address allegations levelled against him of violence towards women.
This was made known via the club’s X handle on Sunday, 10th September, 2023.
Manchester United have agreed with the winger for him to stay away from the club to focus on defending himself.
The 23-year-old winger earlier was dropped from the Brazil squad after accusations of physical aggression on several occasions.
In January this year, his former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, accused him of sexual assault which is still under investigation by police, which he denies. Also, banker Ingrid Lana told Brazil’s Record TV that in an incident at Antony’s home in Manchester in October 2022, he pushed her against the wall, and she hit her head.
Antony has not been arrested or charged and says he will co-operate with police in order to prove his innocence.
His club have agreed with him to stay away in order to focus on defending himself.
According to the report, the club said players who have not participated in international matches are due back in training on Monday, 11th September, 2023.
However, it has been agreed with Antony that he will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations.

Manchester United, who have not suspended Antony, will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds.
Meanwhile, Antony who denies all the allegations made against him, will remain on full pay and hopes to return to the club as soon as possible.
